Campus Sexual Harassment Study Finds Equity, and Debate
Inside Higher Ed. reports today on a new study put out by the American Association of University Women, looking at sexual harassment on campus. The article leaves many questions, and tries to drum up conflict by turning to Christina Hoff Sommers for commentary (who provides a few laugh out loud moments taking pot shots at feminism and referring to The Vagina Monologues as "this new style of raunchy feminism").
The study itself offers what may be surprising stats to some. Most noteable, men and women reported being sexually harassed in equal numbers, and 51% of men and 31% of women admitting to being harassers. It's interesting (and not surprising) that the men and women report very different kinds of sexual harassment. But the article left me a bit wary of believing the reporting without reading the study myself. Links to all (except CHS) below:
