Sex Toy Tax Deductions

The Australian Tax Office has just issued a document listing the items that sex workers in Australia may use as reasonable deductions from their income at tax time. The list includes lingerie, condoms, lubricants, sex toys (and any costs associated with sex toy repair).

Travel expenses and rent can also be deducted, but general expenses related to fitness or make-up cannot. According to news reports, since the decriminalization of sex work is well established, more sex workers were asking for detailed information about what they can and cannot legitimately write off.
