Music in the Key of O

Wednesday October 4, 2006

Apparently a new musical condom is set to go on sale in Ukraine, one that actually increases in volume and intensity as its wearer increases in volume and intensity.

The condom, which is the brainchild of Ukrainian inventor Dr Grigoriy Chausovskiy, has small sensors that are somehow connected to a sound device. According to one report:

It transmits a signal to a miniature speaker in the base of the condom, which plays a melody.

He told local media: "As the sex becomes more passionate, it registers the increased speed of the movements and plays the melody faster and louder."

The article also claims that the condom can be used for protection, which I find a bit suspect. In North America there are pretty clear specifications of what can and cannot be called a condom, and small pieces of metal embedded in the latex usually would disqualify a product. Plus, what happens when the power source runs down and your condom sounds like one of those old musical greeting cards with dying batteries. Not very sexy.
