Reading the Chronicles of Sex Positive Culture

Wednesday January 10, 2007

The illustrious (and overworked) sex educator, performer, activist, author, and co-founder of the Center for Sex & Culture, Carol Queen is finding time to blog, and my only wish was that she'd do it more often.

Carol has been the most public face of sex positivity for as long as I can remember, and there are few people I know who have put their money where their mouth is for as long, as often, and in as varied locales as Dr. Carol Queen. Defining sex positivity is, in my opinion, getting harder and harder in a culture where for profit, and wanna be for profit media (mainstream and alt, print and on line) sets the sexual agenda and starts the sexual discussion, but if you're looking for a starting point, try reading any of Carol's books, and for a digest version of sex positive culture, tune into her blog. It's like going to San Francisco for the weekend without ever leaving your desk (which really saves you money on plane tickets and condoms).
