If you're anywhere near San Francisco the first weekend of October drop all other sex and/or technology related activities (I figure if you're in San Francisco its safe to assume some of your weekend activities will be either sex related or tech related, or both) and get yourself tickets to attend Arse Elektronika. The two and a half day conference was the brainchild of art-technology-philosophy group monochrom and it looks like it will be a complete blast and a great meeting of minds (disclosure: I was originally scheduled to be a speaker but have had to sadly bow out because of a schedule conflict).

Featuring talks from uber-minds like Mark Dery (keynote: "Paging Dr. Moreau: 'Humanimal' Porn in the Age of Xenotransplants and Genetic Chimera"), online superstars like Violet Blue ("Ceiling Cat Hates Your Porn: Sexual Privacy Online"), and plenty of walk-softly-and-carry-large-theoretical-stick types like Amanda Williams as well as film and performance, Arse Elektronika promises to be a one of a kind look into porn and technology (apparently it's also one of the last events to be held at the historic Porn Palace). All this for $25.
