While the old school sex toy industry continues to churn out crappy products with little concern for end users or the planet (but offers the kind of nod to green consumerism one would expect from an industry that’s built on condescension and ignorance) new companies are cropping up offering genuine alternatives and real thought.
So it is with The Earth Angel from Caden Enterprises, a family run company based in Ireland that has designed a brilliant vibrator with a minor environmental footprint.
The vibrator is like those radios/flashlights that work on a crank. No batteries, no electricity and power at the turn of the wrist. Once cranked up the vibrator holds a charge and has multiple speeds. You can also charge the vibrator with a USB cable. I haven’t had a chance to review the product but I’ve seen an early model and it’s definitely strong, albeit a bit on the loud side. Part of me is disappointed at the price (the manufacturer’s site lists it for 70 Euros) but I also think it’s fully reasonable to expect people to pay for quality toys that will last, and pay for something that is less harmful to the environment.
It would be nice to know a bit more about the way the toy is manufactured. It’s great to take the physical environmental into account in the making of a consumer product, but there’s the human impact in terms of supporting unethical labor practices, which is still the norm in sex toy manufacturing (most of which is done in non-unionized factories in China and Taiwan).
Still, from a design and user perspective, the Earth Angel is just one more sign that the world of sex toys is changing and sex toy consumers are the winners.

I don’t suggest to use any toy! Since God creats man and woman, they should help each other.
It’s important that consumers pay attention to what they buy – including sex toys! I’m glad more eco-friendly sex toys are out on the market now. I also read another article today about eco-friendly sex toys from lip butter to lube to whips. There are ALOT of great products out there, and some of these sound AWESOME!

Want the greenest sex toy ever: frozen cucumber!
Be careful, use a condom over it.
i’m trying to contact the caden enterprise because i would like to import the Earth Angel sex toys in Italy (they still don’t sell on italian market and i think that it’s time also for italian people to take care of the environment!), but the site http://theearthangel.ie/index.html it doesn’t work…
someone could give me some suggestion on how to take contact with them?
thank you in advance
