Like great art, great sex toys aren't just about immediate gratification. A superlative sex toy won't just get you off, it changes your perspective, it gives you a glimpse into an alternative way of thinking about and experiencing pleasure. By this criteria, the Two Dildo, by Wet for Her (buy direct) which the digital-dildo-denizens from Babeland sent me the other week, qualifies as a great sex toy.
Developed, according to the company site, by two lesbian-identified French women, the Two dildo offers a representational sex toy for penetration, but unlike most representative dildos, this one isn't phallic. Here the dildo represents fingers, and in fact acts as a digital extension of sorts, fitting over the fore and middle finger and extending their length and girth considerably.
It's a neat idea that takes some humor and creativity to get going (since the Two doesn't actually move like fingers do) but this gives it a second attribute of great sex toys, it's hard to use without having fun. The simple design means that the Two dildo could be useful for a variety of different bodies, the only limit is the size of the holes that your fingers fit in, but the material offers some snug stretch. But as with any toy that's relying on a specific kind of hand movement, where it's accessible it might be equally ill suited for some folks whose hands tire easily.
