Don't Ignore Sexual Questions

If you are shocked by a question, or get a question you don't know how to answer, it is okay to tell your child that you want to answer their question, but you would like to do it later on. Don't use this as a way to avoid answering the question altogether, but if you've had a long day at work and are rushing around trying to get the grocery shopping done, it's okay to tell you child that they need to wait until the end of the day, or when you're at home and will feel more comfortable talking about it.

This may give you time to think about how you want to answer a question, but it also communicates to your child that you take their questions seriously and you want to answer them thoughtfully.
