If you’re looking for something to do on Valentine’s Day and you want to keep the sexual theme without the porn soundtrack, check out these local Valentine’s Day events from across the country all with at least a slight sexual twist.

Massive Valentine’s Day Public Pillow Fight

If the term “flash mob” sets your heart a flutter and you’re in the Bay area, keep up-to-date on the details about the 3rd Annual Public Pillow Fight. This year, two great organizations (The Food Bank and Coalition on Homelessness) will be there accepting donations. Have some lighthearted, sexy public fun and do a little good at the same time.

Erotic Arts & Crafts Fair

If you're looking for inspiration for a crafty Valentine's Day gift, or maybe you're more of the craft buyer than craft maker, check out Toronto, Canada's 2nd Annual Erotic Arts & Crafts Fair. Taking place at a funky downtown boutique hotel, vendors will be peddling their knitted restraints, hand blown glass dildos, latex clothing, and more. Full disclosure: I am a proud member of the co-operative that organizes this event.

Get Naked at the Met

If you’re in New York City, a company called Watson Adventures Scavenger Hunts is putting on a Naked at the Met Scavenger Hunt. From the website:
“Search for nudity in art at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. You’ll scrutinize paintings, sculptures, period rooms, sultry sirens, a literally bronzed Adonis, a medieval codpiece, an incontinent Cupid, and a randy reveler who’ll make you exclaim, 'I never sausage behavior!' No previous experience with art, or nudity, is required."

Love, Sex & Disability

If you’re in Portland, check out this fundraiser put on by the Disability Pride Art and Culture Project to benefit Portland’s third annual Disability Pride Art and Culture Festival. Promising “a night of sexy, sweet, dirty, and romantic explorations of disability and sexuality in short films,” this even is hosted by well-known sex and disability educator/activist Lizzi McNeff. It promises lots of fun and big prizes. For more information, email kafia2008@yahoo.com, or contact the venue, Friendly House, at 503-228-4391.

Valentine’s Day Woo at the Zoo

Another Bay area tradition is the 19th Annual Valentine’s Day Woo at the Zoo! at the SF Zoo. From the website:
"Woo at the Zoo" is a dynamic, multimedia event that explores sexual and mating behaviors of the animals of the world. Don’t miss this world famous entertaining, educational event conducted by the hilarious Jane Tollini -- animal care professional and creator of the former Sex Tours. With the fireplace roaring in the Great Hall, you can keep warm, relax, get cozy and be wooed. “Woo at the Zoo” also features up-close encounters with animals and romantic refreshments including champagne, chocolate-covered strawberries, sushi, pasta bar and a delicious surprise. Pre-purchased reservations are required, as this “sense”ational event sells out each year.” (Watch a short video promoting the Zoo’s romantic content).

Take a Valentine's Day Hot Air Balloon, Glider, or Skydiving Ride

What better way to cement a relationship than to put yourself unnecessarily in harms way...together. Soaring Adventures of America, a Connecticut-based outfit, offers a wide range of packages from pilots around the country and thankfully boasts a 100% safety record. For the lonely hearts this Valentine's Day, they also offer something called the "The Mile High Glider Ride for One Person." I don't think this is an official mile high experience, but it's nice that they're thinking of all of us.

Invite your Valentine to Join the Real Mile High Club

Declare your love, in a biblical sense, 5,280 feet in the air, and make you and your lover charter members of the Mile High Club for $300. Mile High Atlanta offers you the chance to make fantasy a reality -- all without the threat of being escorted off a commercial flight in handcuffs. You get an hour flight in a Piper Cherokee Six designed exclusively for this purpose, champagne included, and you even get to keep the sheets! The unofficial Mile High Club website maintains a list of other companies that offer a similar service.
