If you’re looking for something to do on Valentine’s Day that's more erotic and romantic than pornographic (not that there's anything wrong with that), check out these local Valentine’s Day events from across the country and around the world.
Erotic Arts & Crafts Fair
If you're looking for inspiration for a crafty Valentine's Day gift, or maybe you're more of the craft buyer than craft maker, check out Toronto, Canada's
Annual Erotic Arts & Crafts Fair. Taking place at a funky downtown boutique hotel, vendors will be peddling their knitted restraints, hand blown glass dildos, latex clothing, and more. Saturday, February 9th, 2013. From noon to 8pm. A cabaret and after party follows.
Naked at the Museum Scavenger Hunts
If you’re in New York City, Watson Adventures Scavenger Hunts is offering their
Naked at the Met Scavenger Hunt. From the website:
“Search for nudity in art at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. You’ll scrutinize paintings, sculptures, period rooms, sultry sirens, a literally bronzed Adonis, a medieval codpiece, an incontinent Cupid, and a randy reveler who’ll make you exclaim, 'I never sausage behavior!' No previous experience with art, or nudity, is required."
Valentine’s Day Zoo Tours
The Smithsonian National Zoo is holding their fifth annual Woo at the Zoo, where you visitors (must be over 21, but I think this has more to do with the alcohol served than the level of explicit sexuality on display) get a tour and talk with a reproductive physiologist and one of the animal keepers (guess who has the real dirt). Other city zoo's offer a similar peek into non-human animal love. A quick search turned up events in
Detroit,
Tucson,
Minneapolis,
Los Angeles, and
Philadelphia.
Ride the Love Train
Last year the German national railway ran a “flirt express” train on Valentine’s Day, and this year there are far more
Valentine’s train opportunities. The marketing for these offers fails to mention this, but in almost every way, sex on a train is much better than sex on other forms of public transportation. I’m just saying.
Take a Valentine's Day Hot Air Balloon, Glider, or Skydiving Ride
What better way to cement a relationship than to put yourself unnecessarily in harms way...together.
Soaring Adventures of America, a Connecticut-based outfit, offers a wide range of packages from pilots around the country and thankfully boasts a 100% safety record. For the lonely hearts this Valentine's Day, they also offer something called the "The Mile High Glider Ride for One Person." I don't think this is an official mile high experience, but it's nice that they're thinking of all of us.
Invite your Valentine to Join the Real Mile High Club
Declare your love, in a biblical sense, 5,280 feet in the air, and make you and your lover charter members of the Mile High Club. The offerings change each year but there are several small charter flight companies that offer a pilot and a plane that has a privacy barrier between cockpit and cabin, and for anywhere between $300-$1000 you can go up and down (and up and down) for a Valentine's day romp you won't soon forget.
