Why Buying Viagra Cheap May Be No Deal at All

The first thing to wonder about websites and individuals who offer Viagra cheap is whether or not you're getting real Viagra. (The same goes for other medications used for erectile dysfunction.)

Viagra (Sildenafil) is an FDA-approved drug that’s manufactured by Pfizer. Pfizer has documented the safety of Viagra along with the known side effects, and is responsible as a manufacturer for quality control and ensuring that what they say is in Viagra is actually in it. The same goes for manufacturers of other erectile dysfunction drugs, such as Cialis (Tadalafil).

Most ads and emails that offer Viagra cheap are actually trying to sell so-called “herbal Viagra” or “natural Viagra.” In other words, they’re trying to use the brand name to lure you into buying something completely different. Other drug names aren't immune to this crafty marketing either.

Trying out some fake Viagra or other erectile dysfunction drug that’s advertised as being cheap isn’t just a waste of money, it can be dangerous. In 2008, the FDA seized a large quantity of these so-called 'natural sexual enhancers' and in a separate case issued a recall for others. The drugs in question contained active ingredients not listed on the package that can cause life-threatening side effects. So picking up some Viagra cheap can end up being no deal at all.

Many completely legitimate online pharmacies do offer sales, and you may be able to get Viagra cheaper than purchasing it at your local pharmacy, but the legitimate pharmacies often aren’t the ones marketing cheap Viagra far and wide.

It’s easy enough to say that erectile dysfunction drugs are amongst those things you probably shouldn’t try to find as cheap as possible, but with most people on a budget -- and most of us still interested in sex -- there’s nothing wrong with trying to be frugal with your sexual pharmaceuticals. You just need to be frugal and safe.
