Be My Anti-Valentine
In what’s become a yearly tradition, the great minds behind Anti-VD e-cards have re-launched their site, and are offering the cutest, funniest, and most on the nose free Valentine’s cards. They’ve been up for a week, and Meg Pickard who now carries the torch each year, just posted a fascinating pie chart breakdown of the most frequently downloaded cards:
As you can see, the most popular card (as in previous years) is “Fat. Naked. Dangerous.” closely followed by the one with the anti-consumerist message.
However, in a radical departure from previous years, we can clearly see “destined to die alone and unloved in a room heavy with the tang of cat wee” rocketing up the charts, proportionally-speaking. In years gone by, it languished in the bottom half of the chart - but this year, it seems to have struck a chord, or found acceptability.
Or, alternatively, it may have been linked to by a cat-fanciers message board. That’s usually the explanation.
Love it or hate it, Valentine’s Day can definitely use as much subverting as we can throw at it. So go ahead and send a snarky card to someone you love, or hate, or, you know, whatever.
