Sex Toys: Brought to you by...

Sex toy inspiration can come from the unlikeliest of places.

Every year in July sex toy manufacturers large and small assemble in Los Angeles for the biggest sex toy trade show in the country, the Adult Novelty Expo. I've been attending the event for years and for the past three I have helped to organize a series of industry seminars.

My favorite part of attending the show, more than seeing all the new toys, is learning the back story of the folks who make sex toys. As I was compiling the biographies for our seminar speakers, for example, I learned that two of my favorite sex toy companies got their first inspiration for their product line from their experience inside the American military. I don't know if I'll ever think about the Marines or American Paratroopers the same way again.
